Morning all. I have a unmodified Single Six, shipped as a RSSW4 in May of 1960 for sale. Little barrel rub, locks up tight, shoots great and no known issues. I just found out yesterday that 1960 was the only year they made it with a 4 5/8 inch barrel. Any idea what it is worth? Never sold a gun remote control. I know FFL to FFL but how to do the money without somebody getting bent over? Thanks

Many folks use USPS Money Orders. That's how I've always paid when buying guns off of this forum.

There's always a little "leap of faith" when mailing off payment to someone you don't know. Knock on wood, I've never had a problem.

Most of my purchases have been stainless rimfires, so there are minimal chances of problems with the actual gun. Not likely to be rusted, and no one has been shhoting heavy handloads through them! :p

Typically, the buyer sends payment first, then the seller ships after payment is received.

I have sold a couple guns with the arrangement where the receiving FFL holds the gun until he has been notified that payment was received. That way, the buyer can look it over to be sure it wasn't misrepresented, and the seller can get the gun back if no payment is made.

The RSS4 came out in 1959 initially as LR only. In 1960 walnut grips became standard (RSS4W), but Ruger also offered a rubber gripped RSS4 (RSS4R) for $1 less. In 1962 Ruger began offering the 4-5/8" as a convertible model only, so technically your gun was available 1960 to 1962.

Nobody wants to pay what is worth. 1960 is the only year that Ruger made a pure .22LR Single Six with walnut grips in a 4 5/8 inch barrel. I will continue to oil it and give it a little love every now and then. It will only appreciate in value. So I will not sell it at this time. Thanks all.

WELL..... :!: .....AND FRANKLY......NEVER HEARD ANY INFO OR COMMUNICATIONS FROM YOU. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU VALUE IT AT, OR THE $ FIGURE INVOLVED. WHEN YOU CHOSE NOT TO COMMUNICATE, I SIMPLY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO ASSIST YOU, INCLUDING NOT PURCHASING. YOUR TURN..........

Just checked my message folder. I sent you two via this Forum's message do da. I honestly cannot establish the value. How about you tell me what it is worth?

Value is very subjective. Why? Condition, as well as having the complete package comes into play. By complete package I mean all the paperwork that was in the box when new, as well as the box, AND the shipping carton. You mention a little rubbing on the barrel. And you have shot it,,, so the gun is not new. This falls to the condition. A PROPER grading is necessary to get a true value of any gun. You may think it's 98% while the actual NRA grading system may only give it a 90%. And with the fact that the age of the gun should allow for it to have all the packaging & such,,, the value could be from $500 to $900,,,,,,,,,, but it ALL depends upon many details.
We will gladly assist you in grading the gun, and giving an honest value,,, IF we know the details. Close up pictures,, details of any condition factors, all are needed to give a true value. If you will communicate with Hawkeye#28,,, I KNOW he can help & give you an HONEST value of it.
Or,,, put out the pictures of all you have here,,, and several of us will assist you.

Yessir, VERY "subjective" especially when one uses words as the OP did with ......

" a little barrel rub....." this is where the % of condition comes into play and as noted above, we all SEE this "little barrel rub" in all different degrees......bottom line "condition IS everything"

and as the "Blue book" notes BIG difference in pricing ( value) in the 90-95-98 % of the guns "original" condition...............

would really help to at least see any pictures of the gun in question.......
even than I will only price, appraise, when I see, touch, and examine one...screw the internet......
