Didn't know where else to stick this, but this seemed the most appropriate place. Apologies in advance.

I just thought I'd share some thoughts on a new Henry .22 (H001, standard) that I bought last night. I bought it, ostensibly, becuase my nephews and daughters are getting close to the age where its time to introduce them to shooting. But, after taking it home and playing around a bit, it might be hard for them to pry it from my hands. What a neat little rifle. Fit and finish is better than I expected, there's actually some decent figure in the wood, and it comes to my shoulder and points like a dream. I can't wait to shoot it!

Good choice on the Henry. They are great, affordable lever guns. Those kids will love to learn to shoot with it.......if they can get it away from you. Maybe it will give you an excuse to buy more.

I inherited a Henry 22 when my father in law passed away a few years back. The action is slick and it has beautiful wood. Not only is this little rifle accurate it is a blast to shoot. I am hoping my oldest daughter will learn to shoot with it.

I'm on the Henry bandwagon, too. Bought my son one for his 7th birthday. I'm a die-hard Marlin fan but couldn't see the $400+ for a new 39A that he couldn't even hold up due to weight. Got him a Henry for $270 out the door and have loved it ever since. It's so smooth, nice wood, and very accurate to 40 yds or so.

+1 on the H001's. Bought one at a pawn shop and couldn't believe how smooth it is. Rear site elevator was missing so I called Henry and the Boss answered. Told him about the missing part and he said they would get one in the mail. I told him it was not a warranty issue since the gun was used but he said no sweat and I got the part along with an owners manual about 4 days later. Good gun and good folks to do business with. Have put a lot of thousands of rounds thru it and even let the grand kids shoot it [if they are good ].

It's a tossup between a basic Henry lever action .22 or a pink Duracoated MKII that I saw in the gun shop last week for my 9 year old daughter for Christmas this year. Everything I have read about the Henry was good and any problems got ironed out REAL QUICK! Decisions, decisions........
