Background... I've always liked the idea of a semi-auto rifle and pistol combination that not only shoots the same ammo but takes the same magazines.... seems like a no brainer to me if and when.... well we can't and shouldn't mention... that...

I discovered a 'few' years ago... look at my join date and you will understand... that Ruger came out with the PC9/40 that would work off their 'P' series pistol magazines.. they got me on that one and I actually own 3 PC9's a even more P95 & 89 pistols.... I'm thinking about 'giving' one of these to a guy on my church safety team who has just recently got the gun bug bad.

Anywho... a couple of years ago...2019 I stepped up from 9mm to 357 Sig caliber and wanted to do the same rifle /pistol combo in that caliber.... did some research in found the TNW firearms out of Oregon.... they make pistol caliber rifles and also what us considered a 'pistol' .. same receiver but shorter barrel and a brace... the discouraging part like most others is they only accept Glock Magazines.... (for those that have not kept up with my post, I really don't like Glocks) But there I was... So I ended up with a TNW rifle in 357 Sig caliber and a guy on a different forum (one that I have now dropped off of) was selling a Glock 32c... this is a 'carry' pistol in 357 Sig with a compensator barrel... ported. I do remember shooting it when I first got it and the dern thing was accurate as all get out.... this has been my 'truck' gun along with a TNW gun (pistol with 10" barrel) for a while... Now for the reason for this post. I got a chance to run by my gun club this past week on the way home and since no one was on the pistol range I chose to empty a magazine or two out of my carry pistol (Sig P239) and also why not just for the heck of it run some rounds through the truck gun... the Glock 32c.... I absolutely hated shooting that thing... it was late in the day, just before sunset and I could see the fire shooting out of the top of this thing from the ports in the barrel and slide.... I just don't remember it being that way 4 years ago... maybe it is just me getting older... I do know I got my carry pistol, the Sig P239 because a guy had bought it and then decided it was too much for him and now I'm thinking that is how I ended up with this Glock 32c. The 'good' news is I also have a Glock 31...which is a full size pistol in 357 Sig. I'm also going to try and track down a standard barrel for the 32c that does not have those slits cut in it and see if that is mo-better.

I was helping a friend shoot a Taurus Revolver in 357 a few years back and it had a ported barrel.... I was standing to the side and slightly behind her and was getting hit with pieces of shaved led. Don't know if it was the ports or the loading cone but I was glad I had glasses on. Gunbroker has a repair kit for the Glock 32c that includes a regular barrel and I might just bid on it.

Edit: yesterday I searched on gun broker "Glock 32" and got a couple of pages of items and one was the parts kit for the pistol which included a barrel now today I search and get only a page and about 6 listings of guns... what gives?

Sounds like you may have searched within "Pistols" or something, check that you don't have any filters applied and re-search.

Everybody read your post and ran to GB ?

I found a barrel on GB and ordered it... hope it works... is a threaded barrel and I don't think it even has the end cap for it and so will be asking for help on this in the future.... that is assuming it will work on the pistol... I do have to mention one of my pet peeves in life and that is trying to get the slide off a Glock. I know you G-lovers keep telling me it is no big deal but compared to a Sig it is....

end cap? Do you mean 'thread protector'?
If so, this isn't a problem as these are available for most of the 'normal' size/pitch muzzle threads. Just make sure you get the correct pitch as 9mm(ish) barrels could be 1/2x28 or 1/2x36.

I share your dislike of ported barrels. Good luck with your barrel swap.

I also like the idea of a pistol and carbine that share magazines.

Mine is a Kel-Tec sub2000 that shares magazines with my Beretta 92Fs.

I also think Ruger missed the mark several times. I would be interested in any of the following.

A semi auto pistol that uses 10/22 mags

A semi auto carbine that uses MKII mags

A nice lever action to compliment the Single Six.

I also would buy a carbine that used 2 1911 magazines.

What I can't get with Ruger is their 'latest' pistol carbine and why they could not have made an adapter that would take the 'older' p series magazines...
I guess there was the possibility that they do but never got up the nerve to try one and no one here ever said that they would....

Edit: the barrel with the thread on the end came in today and now I do need to find a "thread protector"
Here is the funny part, I had to actually watch the video I made "Glock vs Sig" to figure out how to get the slide off this. 32C.

If you never plan to use the threads you could just leave it or even mod it smooth or saw it shorter. Been years since I ordered a thread protector and it was real cheap though.

Here is the strange part... I have an Sig P239 that came with a threaded barrel and that thread is backwards (lefty tighty - righty loosie). The thread on this Glock is righty tighty... and so are the barrels on my TNW guns and one of my 10/22s... (I think that was actually the Charger I put a folding stock on... but we better not go there) I think once I prove this barrel actually functions in the gun I'll just take it to a gun smith and have them cut the threads off and finish the end of the barrel right. Seems like somewhere in the past someone talked about the need for the crown on the end of a barrel having to be just right.

Single action cowboy type pistols are shortened all the time. If you search the smith section you should be able to find a few examples. Reminds me of a plumbers tool for seats. HAHA.

How do you shorten the barrel on a revolver with out cutting the front sight off and then having to refit it back on? Or are you making an old timey pocket pistol that doesn't need a front sight?

Also, what is this plumber's tool for what I presume is a toilet seat?

Simplest thing would be for me to find an end cap for this thing... anybody got a way for me to do this?

Google is your friend. ;)

Lots of choices, even pretty colors. :)

"End cap" should be 1/2"-28, same as a .22 and potentially your TNW carbines. Confirm and order an extra, everyone makes them and there are many <$10 options.

1/2"-36 is the other option, sort of defunct other than for 9mm carbines at this point.

Yep, went on Amazon and way too many choices.... I wish it was easier to figure out who actually makes each one. I finally just ordered three from a place claiming to be out of Atlanta but who knows where the things are made.... And you are right NikA the threads on the TNW guns are the same. I could check it with the fuel separator I bought a while back .... still can't figure out why the threads on my Sig pistol are backwards... must be those dern Germans....

Down Range Products (https://www.downrangeproductsco.com) seems to be a US manufacturer and is one of the providers on Amazon with more options. I have several from them that I am happy with.

Sig threads are LH and an odd size as an attempt to control end-user access to muzzle accessories. There's some argument about rifling direction and tightening forces that justifies it, but the history is that for a long time they controlled who could purchase their accessories and their odd thread size meant they produced the only accessories available. Glock factory barrels prior to the dominant market being the US used the same thread specs in many cases.

Yes, Down range products are the folks I was trying to remember. Likely one of the largest selections of thread protectors in the country.
