Like Blume357 said, it shows that a resident from Tennessee can carry in South Carolina.

However a non-resident can not. I am guessing that there is a lot of states that follow that rule of thought. So I think you’re good and your wife will be happy.

"In terms of reciprocity, South Carolina honors resident permits from states that recognize South Carolina permits, provided that the reciprocal state requires an applicant to successfully pass a criminal background check and a course in firearm training and safety. Some areas are off-limits, including schools and courthouses."

It was just a few short years ago that SC finally recognized their neighbor, GA. GA must be an exception to the rule above because GA doesn't require any courses in firearm training and safety, nothing.

I live in AZ and while AZ is full blown constitutional, I still got a CCW permit. When doing so, I said I travel and while some of the states I go through are constitutional, some are not. The ones that are are mostly for their residents only. FWIW, AZ ix a true constitutional state. You come from TN and you can carry, no permit needed. The big problem is every state looks at CCW differently from other states. It's too bad one state doesn't recognize another states permit just like they do driver's licenses.

I think I'm going to have to repeat myself on this threat as it goes on because some folks who open it only read the OP's statement and none of the replies... I have as well as a number of other posters pointed out that:

SC does honor a Tenn. permit if that person is a resident of Tenn.

I only get the chance once a month or so to have enough time to get online. I was looking at a South.. Carolina state website. I'll revisit it for sure!!
Got regular work and 3 remodels going on, all for me. Plate is full and I stay tired. Just little time for things I want to do.

Wonder if it has to something with the recent changes in TN laws? residents can now carry open without a permit. I have a permit and took the course but a background was never involved, unless I purchase a firearm.
Oh believe me I'll be a digging in on this.

Constitutional carry is under consideration in the SC legislature. But there has been mutual recognition of concealed carry licenses between SC and TN for many years.
