Went to the WAC Gun show this weekend and located a Ruger sporter finger grooved stocked (non-checkered) 10/22 in very fine shape. The serial number (59XXX) showed that the rifle was made in 1966. The rifle's hardware and receiver were like new, and the wood just had some slight handling marks. It even came with a new Ruger 10/22 case. The price was in the mid $300.00 range so all and all I feel it was a great deal. :) Gary. Called Ruger today and it will letter as being shipped as a sporter in March 1966. That made my day!!!!

Considering that a new birch and plastic one would cost you two bills at Walmart, you did pretty good. Congrats!
