Hi all,
I got hold of a blue New Vaquero with a 7.5" barrel in .45
It is blue with the case hardened colours.
Have been trying to find out a bit more about them.
Specifically when they made, and how many (or what proportion).
I get the impression that more of the stainless steel ones were made than the blue ones with faux case hardening?
Thank you.

As I understand it when Ruger made the change form the large frame Vaquero to the medium frame they continued with the case color process for a few years before changing over to the al blue model. I currently have all three of the CC&B barrel length Ruger New Vaquero but I have only seen a hand full 9 or 10 total on the market over the past few years. Some one from the Forum told me a while back when I asked the same question that the production of the CC&B Vs the stainless was about 25% - 75%. There were several thousand of the three barrel lengths made in both models but the 7 1/2 inch I think was the least produced.

Hi mate,
That's interesting; thanks.
So perhaps only a few thousand CC&B long barrel jobs?
Not many overall.

I believe Davidson's is still getting 7-1/2" full blue guns from time to time, even though the barrel length hasn't been cataloged for quite a while.
Not sure if Ruger is making a few stainless from time to time as well.
