Just purchased an Old Model 3 screw Blackhawk in 30 carbine
with a 7.5 inch barrel. Serial number indicates it was manufactured in
1972. 90% condition with original wood grips and it has not had
the transfer bar safety installed. Locks up tight.
I think I got a really good deal on it and it came with 2 boxes of ammo as well.
Any idea as to the value of this revolver ?????
Opinions and thoughts on this revolver are appreciated.
I own blackhawk revolvers in 357, 45 and 44 magnum
and also have a couple of single six revolvers.
Love the way they handle and shoot.
Guess I need to find one in 41 magnum now ;-)

Well, a 90% gun is definitely a shooter grade. I'd put it at about $300-$325.
I own a few of them,, and they are a hoot to shoot!

WOW!!!!!!

Got this revolver home last night, checked it out and cleaned it.
Shot some rounds out of it and man does it BARK..... LOUD!!!!!
Also shot three rounds out of the revolver right after it turned dark.
This thing is a fire breathing DRAGON.
Fire shooting out the barrel and cylinder.
Impressive, but would not want to shoot it without ear protection.
Anybody got any ideas or opinions why this caliber is so LOUD in a revolver ????

You answered your own question when you said! "This thing is a fire breathing DRAGON.
Fire shooting out the barrel and cylinder." All that burning powder outside the barrel is what is making all of that noise.

You need a Photobucket account. Here's a tutorial:

Basically your are shooting a rifle cartridge out of a revolver and I believe all the revolvers that do this are loud relative compared to shooting them with similar bore handgun cartridges. About the only exception I can think of is the .44 WCF compared to shooting .44 Special in the same revolver (dual cylinder). About the same report, I think.

Even a .22 WRM in a revolver is loud!

BTW, most New Model Blackhawk .30s will chamber and fire .32-20 WCF, another rifle cartridge widely used in handguns, very well. I shoot Black Hills "Cowboy" .32-20s in mine. Not quite as loud as .30 Carbine, but DO wear your "ears"!

possibly but then you end up with some expensive fire-formed 30carbine brass, and just because you CAN does not mean you SHOULD.
