Final resolve:

Talked to Ruger customer service and did some more study on the firearm as well as a little more range time. I am going to keep the firearm and trust it between 10 to 15 feet as accurate. 21 foot would be a very iffy shot. Regarding continued training for self defense, I will concentrate on the Sig P365 as a primary carry. I will continue to shoot the LCP max but with a lesser degree of frequency.

Congrats on the Sig. That are great well made firearms. I do not shoot duty guns as much as the smaller guns but when I do it is the Sig M17, dang what a great shooting gun. I own a lot of pocket guns, my forte in the shooting world. But I do not carry much in the pocket. The OWB holsters that I love on the Desantis. Very thin, very light weight and hold the gun very close to the body.
By the way, Look up the Wilson Combat Grips. They really make the gun. Worth every nickle. As I said, I own the Sig 365 XL, the M17 and now on my bucket list is the M18.

... the LCP ...During that time I burned out a lot of these little guns. Shot them till they fell apart. ...

Any idea on how many rounds till failure? What was the nature of their failure?

... Then I even back tracked further and not only stuck with DA/SA in a handgun but also all metal. Every trip around the Sun makes me step back further to 'old school'. ...

Tell me about it. Similar thinking led me to this Sig P938 Legion, 9mm, DA / SA, all metal, no rail, no optic plate, 7+1 rounds and three magazines.

Going to pick it up after WA's 10-day wait. Here it is, oil is still on it, so it looks a bit weird:

I'm a single action / double action decock only guy but I'd like to hear how you like the little P938.... but speaking of single action only, about two years ago my Holly Grail was an Sig P226 Legion in Single Action Only in 357 Sig... I realized it was probably not going to happen but I kept looking... one day I was walking by the used counter at my FFL and there was one in 9mm. Best I could do but the saving grace is all caliber of slides fit on the Frame of an Sig P226 and I had several others in 357 Sig..... the action of the gun is all in the lower.

I like that as well, with a S&W 5904, a Beretta 92FS, and a Sig P239. All metal, DA/SA with decocker.

I wanted a CZ-75BD (decocker), but the only thing I could find anywhere was one CZ-75B, new, at a gun shop and I was afraid it would disappear. So you know what happened next, right? I bought it and two weeks later a new CZ-75BD shows up at Sportsman's Warehouse... for less money.

Yet another twist to the never ending story......

Bought the wife an M&P Shield EZ. This one fits her well. She's doing much better with it than the LCP Max. This gave me the opportunity to take her LCP Max to the range. Totally different firearm than my LCP Max. Getting 2" groups at 7 yards as apposed to 6-8 inch groups at 5 yards with mine. Mine is going back to Ruger. Really believed it was me until I shot her firearm. Two very different firearms, same model.

there is a P365 micro compact model that could be a pocket pistol.. I agree, the rest are too big. It is hard to find on the Sig Site.
This has been a evolution or journey if you prefer. I went from all full frame hand guns to the micro lcp. I had no opportunity to shoot a micro before purchasing. The little micro really threw me but I really do like the option of dropping one in my pocket. I had to work through what I needed to change in me and what was wrong with one of the lcp's. I was pulling left and had to fix that. The shooting low was on the one lcp that's funky. At the moment, I'm in pretty good shape. I can hide the P365 without a problem and the good lcp is viable for the pocket. I think in the future I will be looking at the Sig micro and the M&P Bodyguard 2.0. It would be really nice if the range I go to would make the two rentable but that is probably not going to happen. I think they would end up with a lot of holes in their ceiling if the rented micros.

I've got a chance to buy a very slightly used P365 with box and 3 mags. I have ZERO "need" for it and would cause me to buy another holster ……. No problems with my G43 or LCR in the carry rotation but …. The Sigs are so darn good I may

For the longest time I was totally against the idea of a pocket pistol... but I have a very good friend I respect who carries a little Glock of some kind in his pocket.... I've had to just accept that some people are different than me. Then I watched Hickok 45's video on pocket pistols and made a turn. Still not my favorite way to carry but I will admit it has its place. My wife on Friday night at 8:45 asked me to drive up to the the local Walgreens pharmacy and pick somethings up for her and I just stuck my Sig P290, which I keep on a shelf in a pocket holster, in my pocket and drove there and back.
