Son has a KelTec folding 9mm carbine. After looking at it closely, I'm NOT a fan. The KelTec design(and the apparent design of the pictured S&W version,) leave too many parts exposed to dust and debris for me to like.
The KT folding carbines I handled - I was interested in the version that took Beretta 92-series mags - also struck me as rather flimsy. It was a neat toy, but I wasn't sure how much serious use it would take. That's most emphatically not the case with the Ruger PC carbines, whether original or the current version. Initial buzz on the Henry Homesteader is also very favorable.

Haven't seen much on these new S&Ws, but I'd trust their build quality a lot more than I do Kel-Tec's. If I had a M&P I'd definitely be taking a look at one of these.

The magazine isn't really a big deal to me, I have Beretta CX4s and none of their pistols (not a fan of the 92) that share the mags.

In my limited experience, it's rare to have both pistol and carbine shoot their best with the same load.

I have enjoyed mine so far. Much better quality than the Kel-tec. Can't say I have much use for it personally, as I use a 300 rattler for whatever I might use the FPC for, but it is a nice choice to have.

Interesting concept. A Long barreled Pistol that folds
in half, with stabilizing shoulder stock.

I got several business notifications. After watching
videos about the FPC (Folding Pistol Cartridge)
Carbine I like it.

9mm is easy to get, folding does not interfere with
sights, Metal construction, nice carrying case,
and 3 magazine storage. Pistol grip back straps
can be changed. Threaded for suppressor too.

I will definitely check them out when Local Gun Shop
gets them.

The one problem with side folders for me is the bulk when folded. That's the biggest selling factor for the Kel-Tec... I can fold it, slip it inside a laptop case, and then leave it under the seat of my truck... just in case I unintentionally find myself in the middle of some social unrest on my way out of Dallas at 2am.
But with the side folder I put on my older Ruger PC 9 the rifle will shoot with the stock folded.. and also I can't see how that is 'more bunker that the one pictured for this post... now I do have an AR-15 with a folding stock and it won't work folded....

I have to admit something and I'm not bragging... just kind of shaking my head at the moment .... I actually don't know how many rifles I have with folding stocks....

I just got to look over and inspect the new
S&W FPC folding pistol cartridge rifle.

I really like it. Easy to deploy, easy to use,
light weight, well made. Definitely the
bug-out gun to have with anything 9mm
handgun. If something happened at least
9mm is NATO, standard, easy to come by, beg,
barrow, steal, or kill for.

Scheel’s Sporting Goods store has them on
sale right now.

As already pointed out it doesn't take Glock mags.
When you look at the numbers of 9mm. Glock mags out in the world I don't
understand a manufacturer not designing a way to accept them.

I find it interesting that the barrel is what folds and not the stock....

But some of us have had a pistol caliber carbine with folding stock... for a long time...

Even though it is a custom job... Original PC Carbine in 9mm that takes Ruger P95 magazines.

Where do you see that the barrel folds?

Yeah...at the chamber, I thought you were talking about something different. It folds in the same place the Kel-Tec folds.

I finally had a chance to handle one of these today, at the annual Memorial Day weekend gun show here at the Lake of the Ozarks. Indeed, I had a chance to compare it almost side-by-side with a Kel-Tec carbine (at a nearby table).

Suffice it to say that the S&W FPC is a much more substantial and robust firearm than the KT, IMO.
