So I was wondering if anyone on here has any real world knowledge (work/own gun store, etc.) of how these new Ruger carbines are selling?
I have a 45 and really like it.

The 45 has only been available for about 5 months, so I wouldn't expect to see any info about how they're selling for at least another 6 months and probably longer. That said, I just got this delivery from Underwood today(200rnds). :)

I am the one with a ballistics file (35 handgun and 25 rifle calibers), and I have the ammo in my file, available today by 3 different retail outlets, and the price varies from $25.99 to $29.99. But the interesting thing is that this is not a very fast +P, which is only at 925 fps, as compared to the 'standard' at 850 fps.. But on the plus side, the bullet is 255 gr instead of the norm 230 or the lighter 185, and it is a hard cast bullet too. The power is only 425 ft, lbs, which is very mediocre. A powerful .45 ACP round is in the high 500's or low 600's.

I don't know of a factory loaded 230 FMJ-45ACP that actually reaches it's claimed 850-890 FPS out of a 5" 1911. Heck, some of 'em don't even get out of the 700 range....Just sayin'.

Agree, which is why I don't bother using it in a handgun. This is specifically for my LC45 carbine. You don't get much added MV or ME from +P in a 5" barrel, nor does a standard velocity benefit much from a 16" barrel. But +P does quite well in the longer barrel. It's all about matching up the ammo with the gun. Same goes for other pistol calibers. :)

Pretty cool website.

No 255+P data here but they do have 230 BB +P numbers.

A 16.6" Beretta CX4 did 1,124 FPS with this load
A G21 with a 4.6" bbl did 951 FPS. Pretty respectable increase in velocity and energy for both.

The Glock with 230 FMJ BB std velocity did 829 FPS which is close to industry quoted numbers for 230 hard ball.
The 16.6" Beretta did 933 FPS, almost a 200 FPS increase.

According to their website, Buffalo Bore Hard Cast 255+P BB gives 960 FPS out of a 5" Gold Cup.

I would wager that in the 16" Ruger LC the 255+P Underwood would at least give around 1,150-1,175.
That's a serious load out to 75-100yds.

Do you own a chronograph, and have tested them? If so, what specific ammo have you tested?

Very interesting! I did not know that you could shoot .45 ACP in a rifle. But if it shoot .45 LC, I guess that makes sense. Do you have any idea what fps you get out of the LC45 carbine with either the .45LC rounds or the .45ACP rounds?

This is a very interesting site! But it does not in general give the gun, just the barrel length, although the length given for pistols is not really the actual barrel length. They are shorter than what is stated by the gun manufacturer. But I do love seeing the different speeds based on the barrel length. Buffalo Bore's 255 gr hard cast ammo is rated by Buffalo Bore to be 925 fps., and at 960 from the gun you mention. So, I am thinking that this website is just giving us the manufacturer's stats, and not getting them on their own. I also had to force going to this site because of a security breach in its design, missing some certificate.

It's the Ruger LC Carbine of the topic. Comes in 5.7 or .45

They quit updating the site a few years ago. If I had a working chronometer, I'd do that, but a decent one (LabRadar or similar) is more money than I care to spend on something I'd only use once or twice.

Some numbers in this video, nothing for 255grn, but can be estimated if you use the percent MV/ME increase between 5" & 16" barrel, and adjust for weight to get a approximation.

Look lower on the page, there are specific guns listed.

So many people think that the name,
"Ruger LC Carbine 45 Auto" is referring to it being chambered in 45 Colt.
I can understand the confusion.
I also doubt you will ever see a semiauto in 45 Colt.

Let's make a clear distinction here. The Ruger LC45 Carbine Model Num 19309 is a new design .45ACP gun rated for +P. It has nothing to do with any other cartridge, and will not load or fire .45 Long Colt.
