I decided to take my Winchester Deluxe 1892 45 colt out for some exercise. I also had some new loads to play with.

These were shot using the factory irons at 40 yards. I also came realize that my eyes do not like these irons might time to upgrade. These were fired from a kneeling position so I probably couldve improved the accuracy with a more stable platform.

The 3 white marked shots were Freedom Munitions 255 FMJ-FP, very disappointing for $1/rd

The orange were handloaded Berry 230 Hybrid Hollowpoints sized .452 with 12 grains of Accurate #5 (max standard load)
Recoil was very mild.

The red are Rimrock Bullets 255 grain LRN-FP sized .452 with 7.5 grains of Titegroup. Again, mild recoil.

The blue were my favorite. These are handloaded 300 grain XTPs, sized .452 with 19 grains of Lil Gun. The recoil was easily on par or slightly stouter than 30-30. This is a +P load.

None of the brass showed any pressure signs and no sticky extraction

Looks like a fun day exercising!

I'm patiently & quietly looking for a Marlin lever gun in 45 Colt myself. One of these days,, maybe,,,!

I went to peep sights on all 4 lever rifles I have, The rear buckhorn sights become a blur for me at 65. The 1892 Navy Arms in 357, I finally added a marbles tang sight last Jan. Now I can and do shoot it well. Been the the range 2 times, normally 50 yds and nothing further. I highly recommend going to some type of peep sight for aged eyes and better/sharper sight picture.

Did someone say TANG SIGHT????🤠🤠🤠🤠 Shooting in SASS shoots I take the inserts out of the tang sight which makes it as a ghost ring. When shooting 75-100 yards then put it back in.
Enjoy you 1892. As you can see I kind of like lever guns. Always have since a kid watching the Rifleman
