so after i got out of my dentist appointment i had an urge to go to a gun store that i ussually dont go to. there in the case was a new montado for the same price a a regular new vaquero. said "let me see that, ill buy it" $475 asked if i could trade for a NV and some change he said sure. WOW cant believe my luck. it was like i was being guided to the store. he said he just put it in the case 30min ago. ran home and grabbed a blued NV went back and got it.
now i gotta get hold of gary reeder and turn it into a .44spl.

ill post a pic when i figure that part out

Have been thinking same (44) with my .357 Montado (and regular NV if Ruger doesn't show up at the SHOT show with one). Even if not, they're pussycats with even very warm .38s and you can't argue the usefulness of the 38/357 combo...so always want at least one of those. Put a Bowen lanyard on my Montado so it's now perfect as is.

anyone know where birdshead grips for the NV's are or if they are made yet???

been thinking of a lanyard

I posted on a different thread that the lanyard is not a quickie as it might seem--on the "new" Rugers (I.e. With internal lock), especially when installed to let it free-wheel as they're designed to. Not just a screw in arrangement, just precious little space to work with, notching the internal metal enough to install cleanly, then pin so will turn. I had that done but was told that if you could "live with" a fixed (fore-aft) position it was a bit easier and much less time consuming. But I "couldn't" and my 'smith figured it out as I'm sure others have...and the result is great. Just a "beware." Others may have installed with no fuss, but I was the guineapig (for NV etc) for my top-drawer Colt'smith.
