I picked up a new to me Bisley today - looks very low use.
When the hammer is down should the cylinder be able to turn
at all?
The locator will skip out of the notch and allow about a 3/8" movement
about 1/2 Cal. In battery she is solid. This is a 45LC.
Is this normal?
Thanks for your help

The cyclinder should not turn when the hammer is down. The hammer will only turn when the loading gate is open or when you pull the hammer back about 1/2 way. Looks like you need to return to Ruger for repairs.

Don't jump to the return line quite so fast. Could be a very simple DIY fix. The tech fellas will be here soon or maybe post this in the gunsmithing area.

My last Ruger send back was 20 yrs ago. I recieved a postcard stating they recieved it and be 4-6 weeks. I recieved the repaired gun the next day. I hope you are so lucky.

Well they have it and the 4-6 week wait begins :(

Look at it this way...Did you send it to them thinking and maybe hoping it would be a free repair? If so, and it does indeed come free of charge, I wouldn't complain. Many expect free and then complain about a wait. Want it fast or want it free?
Wonder these same folks would handle a 10, 12 or longer wait from one of the better 'smiths... :?

Don't like the wait but do not mind and understand.
Not even looking for free but that would be a bonus.
I just want it fixed so I can enjoy it.
I have big plans for this one.

Woo hoo she's back already
Repaired ejector rod? didn't know it was damaged.
Replaced the cylinder latch and Pawl.
Seems to work fine - Now to the range.
Oh and no charge
