I traded for a new to me Bearcat today, 2007 Revolver. Don't think it's had over a50 round box though it. The guy I got it from said the guy he traded with said he shot it a few times and put it back in the box.No powder residue covering the serial numbers on the cylinder. I've wanted one of these for a long time, they are hard to find . Love my Single Sixes too!

I just bought my first Bearcat a few weeks ago, an Old Model 1971 Super Bearcat, pre-tranfer bar. The trigger breaks at 2 pounds. It didn't take long to fall in love with it. It shoots 2 1/2" high at 25 yards looking thru the notch rear sight, windage is dead on. I toss golf balls on the ground at different distances and aim for the bottom of the ball and hit them almost every time. These are fun! I have 2 more coming from Gunbroker. I figured if one was good, 3 would be even better.

I've run about 60 rounds through it.groups great, I had 1 round that puffed out a lot of smoke. I took the cylinder out and checked everything, I noticed some shaved lead on the right side of the frame.Should I contact Ruger about this?
I was shooting at 10 yards off hand.

That looks to me like cylinder timing is off. The bullet was not quite heading down the barrel. I had a new bearcat a few years ago that did that and had to send it back to ruger.

I love the concept of the little bearcat but having owned several of them and several single sixes over the years, i've come to the conclusion they are a little on the fragile side. Several years ago a bought a new bearcat, shot it a few times and the transfer bar broke. Sent it back and they fixed it. Shot it a few more times and it broke again. Sent it back and they said it couldn't be fixed. But as usual they made it right. I have never had a problem with a single six. I think the single six is probably the most heavy duty and durable 22 handgun you can own. Here is a pic of the ones I own now.

It sounds to me like the transfer bar is fragile. But that could only be a problem with Bearcats made 1993 and later, as they didn't have transfer bars before that. Another reason to buy Old Models.

I also have a Shopkeeper, and I just bought it used, very lightly used

I've already put a 500rd brick through it, I like it because it actually feels like shooting a little .32 or something, vs my Single Six or .22 SP101 which feels like shooting a Pellet gun. It's the perfect size for .22 and with Hyper Velocity it has some kick.

This post is gonna have me socking away Bearcat transfer bars now

I'm also thinking the hammer is pinching the transfer bar and Ruger should have addressed this.
