Being a die hard leadhead junkie, I'm always on the lookout for a new mold. Well, I found it. It came from a very skilled Slovenian machinist, from the castboolit forum. It's a H&G 503 HP mold with 3 different types of pins. Pin style is Cramer. This is a very fast tool for casting HP bullets. I cast over 70 bullets in a mere 15 minutes. Total cost of mold was $100.00, shipped from Slovenia. It's made of brass, and very high quality. Reminds me of a few cherished Rob Applegates mold I have.

Here's the mold, with 3 sets of pins, and tools .

Here's the 70 odd something I cast in 15 minutes time. I love this wicked hexagonal pin set-up. Talk about a nasty varmint round .

So is the "503" the mould number or the bullet weight?
Seems to short of a 44 bullet for 503grs

Nasty looking HP and quite a bargain considering the obvious quality....If you reverse the HP pins does it also make a flat point bullet?
Hmmmm  Good point Dennis :!:

Yes, if you reverse the pins, it will make the flat tip. However, I have a six banger, in aluminum, by the same gent.

Just a dumb question from a degreed engineer (that title gets in the way a lot). Doesn't lead "stick" to brass? I mean, don't you use lead to solder copper alloys, which brass is? Is there an trick to keep the lead out of the mold?

Carl, The third vital material needed in soldering, is flux. Never had a problem with brass molds. You ever try to solder without flux ? :D

Jeff, after looking at the huge nose cavity I would say you have "evil" intentions, those poor whitetails won't have a chance. That really is a nice looking mould/design.

I LIKE IT!

Dittos amigo! Some nice light, fast and explosive .454" "varmit bullet" mayhaps? Around 200-225 gr? (Or a .454" version of the 457122 with that HP would float my boat too! )
