A couple of years ago I bought a bull barrel and a stock from Midway to build an inexpensive rifle to shoot off of bags on my bench. The gun went together no problem but only fires about every third round, regardless of ammo brand. The strikes seem to be deep enough but apparently not.

I got impatient with this rifle and put it in the back of my safe. Recently got it back out and would like your opinion as to the issue.

Thanks in advance.

So you think the barrel is not set back far enough? Or the bolt is not far enough forward?

My guess there would be that the barrel aint right, maybe the chamber...but without looking, it's just a guess.
Did you modify or replace anything else about the same time that the barrel got changed?.....hammer?... springs?...firing pin?
