Hello, I'm new to the site. I recently purchased a new Lipseys Blackhawk Flattop Stainless 357/9mm convertible. I love the gun except for the grips..I would rather some checkering. The model number is 05245 and the catalog number is KNVB-34X. I called Ruger and CS appeared to be even more confused then me. First she told me it was a Vaquero grip frame but couldn't tell me if it was the New Vaquero or just plain Vaquero. Then she told me to just order New Blackhawk grips which I don't think will work. I'm looking to order some checkered wood grips from Altamont who is probably the factory supplier of grips. My question is which do I order?

Ps this gun is a pleasure to shoot, especially in 9mm. I purchased this gun solely to shoot 9mm out of. I see people selling the 9mm cylinders...are the 357 cylinders worth anything? Thanks

My first 2 cylinders at 15 yards unsupported with Fiocchi 124gr FMJ's

I understand your confusion and the CS person at Ruger is incorrect. The flattop models use a 2005 and newer version of the original Colt SAA clone frame and New Model Blackhawk grips, known as XR-3 RED frame grips will NOT fit.
Look for grips specifically for the 2005 and newer NEW MODEL VAQUERO which is built on the same grip frame size as your Blackhawk Flattop. Altamont makes checkered grip panels.

Both Vaqueros are New Models. You want grips for the "New Vaquero". Those and the Flat Top Blackhawks are the only models that use your size grip.

Anything on this page will be correct for your gun:
