Revolvers.
Mag is always in gun.
Mag is always loaded.
Safety is never on.
Always one in the chamber.
Limp wristing is no problem.
Never FTF.
Never FTE.
Revolvers also don't eject spent cases.

Depending on some potential future scenarios, that could be an extremely important feature.

Being narrow minded and a gun salesman, reminded me of the 7 years I sold guns. Yes, be careful just like auto sales the best/right car for you is on their lot.
Also, many if not most I dealt with came into the store asking for a certain gun because uncle Billybob told them that was the gun they needed, period. Be it a deer rifle, duck shotgun or self-defense handgun.
True story, a 20s something smaller size women comes in and wants a Colt Python. I had one in 4-inch. She said she was told it was the best and she should buy one to keep in the bedside stand. I tried to show her other handguns that would work and were half the cost. No sir, that Python went home with her and a box of 357 ammo.
It came back weeks later. This time she walked out with a S&W model 37 with .38 spl 148 gr wadcutter ammo. Never seen her again, I took that Python home and carried it on duty for about a year. I only stopped carrying it because it was such a fine handgun and a lot heavier than my S&W 4-inch model 19. That was and is a fine example of a workhorse tool for cops. The Python was perhaps the best range gun I ever owned and beautiful. Needless to say, it was sold for a lot more than I paid for it, years later.

very good point but all too many already have "preconceived thoughts as well as issues" and at most all of the shows I go to, sit across from or near all the "new black plastic stuff" and see couples walk away mumbling, sometimes pretty loud as to their Dads or boyfriends or guys at the range or any gun shop, I will shrug my shoulders but sometimes will "stop them" and ask why and the overall vast majority in all these years ( since the early 1960s say the same thing, overwhelmed by what they are TOLD to shot, carry, and what they can actually even handle and again all too many of the smaller folks, OLDER folks men as well as women, just cannot pull back or ack the slide on all too many autos, I may show them the difference and tell them try them out BEFORE they buy, cause again MOST of those who did buy will be back and looking for something else they can handle,,,,,,,,contender always has done this from what I remember, and SEES them in action and can and will "spot" any issues...............did them all, carried them all ( except Magnum researchAutomags) ha ha,,,wonder why,,,, and I am a big guy..........carried 38 revolvers most all my life went to very small 22 lr ( beretta 21a ) for about 20 years had at least a half dozen of them and they ALL would put MOST of the mag in a size of a playing card at 50 feet, until recently, because I AM the 'Ruger guy' went to the LC9s 2 years ago, by default because NONE of the small LCPs shot any where near as well as the Old Beretta or even a KelTec 380 and why "compromise"??? 9, today is pretty darn good loads, BUT the "advantage " still goes to the LARGE hole at the end of ANY compact or full sided 1911....it is intimidating , which gives one an 'added' advantage ( edge).....
screw them gun counter ninjas, use what works for YOU and you can effectively handle In ANY and ALL situations ....remember if for SELF DEFENSE your NOT going into combat, and if you think you are????? you cannot carry enough.......
( or be fast enough on the draw.. or get it out of your purse.....awareness is MORE important....;)

and if your really think you are "manly" stop at a show where they actually show, and have the "variety and assortment " that is available out there today, and try and rack back the slides, damn , I sure have a hard time.........

I think the issue would be to listen... not so much to the gun they think or were told they need but more important what they want it for and if this does not exactly match the gun then gently suggest they consider something else or look at some other options...

Regarding buying guns, I've reached a point I really have everything I need. Heck for the most part I have everything I want (or at least can afford). For quite a few years now I'm strictly an impluse buyer. When I tell the wife I'm going to the gun store, she knows it's a fair likelyhood I'll come back having purchased another.

Interesting discussion, Contender. I seem to recall, a looong time ago some guys determined that, for the first shot from leather, choice of handgun type made no difference. DA or SA, revolver or autoloader, that first accurate shot could be placed in essentially the same time. The key factor was the man behind the hammer.

Fantastic old pic and I‘ll choose what Col. Cooper was using.

Depends on the day as to what I carry and where I am going and what I am wearing. Choices are HK USP40 full size, FNX9, Springfield 1911, 4" Colt King Cobra, S&W Trail Boss 3" 44 mag. Pre model 10 S&W 38 sp.

As some have mentioned, whatever you carry, make sure you practice with it. Try reloading the revolver or semiautomatic with one hand. You’ve been shot in the other hand/arm, and it hangs like a loose rag. Try reloading. Takes some time and thought doing it, but it’s possible. Then do it with your other hand. Now, that’s something.

And can use responsibly. I run timed drills from 5-25yds to determine if something is reliable and accurate enough to be considered for Carry/HD. Unfortunately most can't do that in their back yard and throw together a few hundred rounds here and there as needed.

I like revolvers! I wish I could shoot and reload like Jerry Miculec does. But...that doesn't stop me from trying and practicing. For CCW I choose
a Glock 19 or 17. I have owned G's for 30+ years and they just "Fit"...!
I also shoot my Blackhawk in 41 mag for a fun day. I guess it's all goes
back to personal choice.....Ain't it Great! Good Shoot'n Folks!

I started off owning and shooting only revolvers in .22 to .357 Magnum.

I now only own and shoot semiauto pistols in 9x19, .357 SIG, and .40 S&W.

That's my choice. If you prefer revolvers that's your choice. You'll get no uninvited comments from me about anything.
