At first sight it looks like it could be a trigger plunger, but not for a Ruger or Smith revolver. Maybe something dealing with magazine disconnect or loaded chamber indicator?

I was getting ready to start looking in my safe for a pin that would fit in that hole, then look what that pin fits. Glad it was an extra part.
