Really like top right custom.

Me too...I would love to see Ruger bring out a new mark IV that looks like that.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. I don't consider myself a die-hard collector, I just like to shoot Ruger Mark I's. I only found out a couple of years ago that my T-678 with D-200001 serial number that I bought used 50 years ago is so rare. I didn't know the T-678 with tapered ears was unusual until after I bought it. I bought the custom T-512 with S-serial number because I really liked the way it looks. But, I have learned a lot about Ruger .22 pistols thanks to this web site and Chad and his Red Eagle News Exchange.

The rib appears to be custom made. There are no marks on it to indicate it is a PolyChoke or Simmons rib. I don't know how it is attached to the barrel. The gun also has a jeweled bolt. The seller told me the gun was part of an estate.

Is that an H at the beginning of the serial number? Looks to be added on. That should be a clue to it's origins. Maybe someone here knows.
No, it is an "S". I'll post a picture later.

It stands for a factory second. Some had a problem with the finish. Some were shipped and returned for some reason and then repaired and shipped again with the "S" hand stamped in front of the serial number. These guns are very rare and command a premium from the regular MK-I. But sadly someone made modification to it which destroys the collectors value. The modification do however add to the shooter value. I bet it makes it a lot nicer to shoot.

Close-up of the S-serial number and the jeweled bolt. Perhaps the fact that this T-512 is a factory second was one of the reasons why a previous owner had it customized. Unfortunately, the photos I posted do not do a very good job showing its really beautiful bluing.

I checked and the W indicates factory walnut grips. A T-512 in that configuration is rare and would require a letter to confirm. Sorry for the confusion. I'll edit my precious post to change it to a T-512.
