Just found out the PA I'd seen for years was killed last Oct in an exchange of gunfire. Some punk broke into his house...was wounded and recovered. I was paying a bill to a related MD's office and heard about it over the phone. I don't watch local news much so missed it back then. I think he was younger than 50.

I would think the same thing. If my PA was killed I'd be a little more specific as to who it was...

It just hit me as a shock and this board is the only one I frequent. He was Michael Clay Robinson.

So sorry and I expect it hit you hard... always does when someone you know goes like this...

just a suggestion... edit your post so that folks won't be confused... you can even edit the subject title I think.

I'm sorry to hear this.

I have dealt with PA's for many years, and have found their care to be much more complete and caring than most production-line MD's.

And some idiots don't understand why we feel the need to be armed. Why doesn't stuff like this register on their brains?

I guess it's the "it won't happen to me" thing. Maybe the people that it happens to thought the same thing.

When in to see my doctor at an appointment and something happened and he wasn't available just then so they asked me if I would like to see a PA. I said yes.

That PA took twice the amount of time the doctor would have with me. He examined me a lot more thoroughly. I've been on medication for high blood pressure for 25 or so years.

While examining me he turned down the lights in the room and used some kind of device with a light to look into my eyes. When I asked him what he was doing, he said one can see evidence of high blood pressure in the eyes when small veins or capillaries or something like that burst. My doctor never bothered to do that.

it goes against what most of us are taught these days... but I was in a Sheep dog seminar a few weeks ago on Church and school safety and I think it was Dave Grossman who said, "If someone is going to die in your church.. let it be you." I know it sounds counter productive but in the end if you choose to be a true sheep dog that might be the choice you have to make.

Sorry to hear the bad news.
I have had dealings with a PA and can say that he diagnosed a vertigo problem I was having in about 10 minutes after the flight surgeon told me flat out that he had no idea what was the cause of it.

Maybe because they don't have the glory of the MD after their name they feel they have to try a little harder.
