I started this project 01/03/09 and finished it 12/12/09.
This is the first Muzzle Loader I have ever tried to build from scratch.
The barrel is an antique 45 caliber that was never used. I cut it to 38”. The double set triggers and all of the Silver hardware are handmade.
I did not use the Butt plate or trigger assembly shown in the first photo. The Lock is a Siler. I am open to suggestions for a name for it?

Here is a link to a very picture heavy photo essay of the complete project

That thing is gorgeous. You did a great job. It looks too good to shoot!

But I know you'll shoot it, but will you hunt with it?

Wow. You are truly an old world craftsman. Well done. Reckon I'll send it back to you though, since you went and put the lock on the wrong side...

I haven't the words to express my admiration for this beautiful rifle except to say I am left-handed if you ever tire of it.

Thats really nice, it's not to fancy and yet not to plan. The quaility just makes a the front stuffers they crank out now to just get people out into the woods look sick. Whats the twist and how many grooves in the barrel?
