This is My first #1, acquired in a trade about 6 weeks ago. The stock looks like an upgrade or a custom, but the fit is perfect, and this little 22-250 is a 3/8" GROUP TACKDRIVER!!

Nice Liberty No.1!

62, There has been a big discussion on here about the quality of Wilson barrels. Since your rifle was made in 1976, it will have a Wilson barrel on it. This is an example of Wilson barreled rifle that will shoot. Congrats on a nice find.

THe best wWislson barrels are as good as anybody elses as your 22-250 proves.

That being said the early problem with Wilson was uniformity and that was usually early on. They did improve over time and the best ones , even at the degining were good.

If you are buying a used #1 Wilson barrel just be sure you retian the right to send it back upon inspection. You won't able able to reallt tell anthing other than obvious problems visually before installing and firing the barrel.

I've bought lots of take off #1 barrels in my life and installed them with no problem. I've only ever bought one, in 22-250 that had issues and iI sent it back to the guy.

Most 30-06s don't get fired enough for a problem to develope.
