I know there are lots of handloaders on the forum but I'm interested in what factory ammo people have found to be accurate in their 44 mag Redhawks.

Magtech 240 gr blue box 240 gr is very accurate, despite being a cheap ammo in mine.

Hornady 300 gr JHP/XTP are also very accurate shooting a tight group but shoots quite a bit higher than the 240 gr.

I tried some PMC Bronze 240 gr, they felt more powerful than the Magtech, but I didn't get a good group with them.

Federal Hydrashok 240 gr were also pretty good almost as good as the Magtech.

Anyone have any favorite factory loads?

I have pretty good results with Double Tap's .44M 250 gr SWC. It's a pretty hot load, but groups well. My Ruger's tends to like heavier loads a little better, I have some 320 gr handloads that will group 2" +- at 25 yards out of my Alaskan.

Getting a nice group @ 25 yds out of an Alaskan, with that short sight radius, is a real accomplishment. Good for you.

Speer Gold Dot SP 270 Grain
This shoots good in my Super Blackhawk, 77/44, and Marlin 1894P.
Absolutely devistating on whitetail also.

Heavy bullets ALWAYS hit higher than "standard Factory" loads. They kick harder and consequently make the gun react/recoil a bit harder which pitches the barrel toward the stars......

At least this is my experience with .32's, .357's, .44's. .45's and .454's.

I was surprized by how much higher the 300 grains hit in 44 mag because prior to that I was shooting my 357 mag with everything form 130 gr 38 spl to 158 gr 357 mag Double taps with the same POI at 10 yrds, but then I got a big difference on 44 mag between 240 gr and 300 gr. Perhaps my wrists were getting limp by the time I fired the 300 gr Hornadys and I was getting more muzzle flip than normal than would have been normal. I'll have to give it another go when fresher, and see if the gap narrows any. I suppose at longer range it would even out more because the 300 gr would drop faster.
