Who, what, where, when, why and how...

Who is responsible?
What are they doing all day?
Where is my stuff?
When can I expect it?
Why do these people keep their jobs?
How do consumers do something about it?

I've had things bounce around in Florida from the southeast, to Jacksonville, Tampa, Miami and start all over again for weeks as well as stuff going from the originating point elsewhere in the U.S to Florida and back again but this is getting ridiculous.

Last year I wrote the Postmaster General with tracking info like I attached here and their office referred me straight back to the local office.

AI, baby. They used to have human beings looking at labels. Now the computer misreads something and you're stuck in a loop.

Creeping up on 4 weeks I sent out a check for some grips and 3 envelopes with Karma clips. So far 2 envelopes have arrived and one person said they weren't surprised. That's frustrating, not only to me but I'm sure the guy that sent the grips.
Not long ago I sold 3 holsters and the last check was creeping up on 4 weeks before it arrived. The sad thing is 2 days after the holster buyer sent a second check, the first one finally arrived.
Not only that but it's embarrassing.

It seems they put packages is a container and say most of the stuff in this container is headed here. Instead of sorting accurately. They are just trying to clear off their workload. Passing it off to the next center.

There is obviously no accountability.

I just experienced that. I recently sold a 9mm magazine on eBay going to St. Petersburg. Got there in 3 days and then the stupidity started. For some reason it went to Yarbor City, then to somewhere in Arizona and then up to New Jersey before heading back to Florida. Finally made it back to St. Petersburg and was finally delivered. Took two weeks. But Florida not the only problem area. I bought a couple of smoke detectors on eBay from Ohio. They never moved from the originating PO and a trace didn't help. Had my purchase price refunded and to my surprise it shows up a month later. Tried to send it back and had it delivered to me again. I sold an electric furnace part on eBay to someone in Michigan. Big box, hard to lose. Buyer says it was never delivered but USPS says it was. eBay didn't make me give refund. My local USPS here in Maryland isn't much better.

I am seeing a bit of a trend... Is it just Florida that is screwed up? This is two revolvers I won at auction.

I'm planning on contacting the auction house tomorrow if there are not any real updates on the package. Someone call Elon, maybe DOGE can fix it.

While I get most mail in a timely manner I did have one go missing recently. Went from Texas to a USPS Distribution center less than 15 miles from me in about 5 days THEN it went to St Louis a couple hundred miles away showed in transit next day and has been in transit ever since. About 20 days now. I did a find my package request and was to it seems to have disappeared and I was told the sender should file a claim. I got refunded by the seller, and the package is still "in transit" I suppose it could still show up and if it does I'll contact the sender to pay him again.
The local post mistress told me a lot of mail gets delayed in Indiana (Indianapolis) and St Louis.

I'm wondering if there's a DOGE Email I can send a copy of my package travel history to when it finally gets here? :)

Apparently,,, someone in politics has mentioned making the USPS into a privatized company. Why you ask? Well the city of constant protests of everything the liberals & dems want that isn't going their way had a protest rally this weekend in Asheville NC. About 30-40 USPS workers were there representing their union & saying they were not going to stand for DOGE or the privatization of the USPS.

Asheville NC is a hotbed of anti- EVERYTHING that is for any form of freedom. Super liberal attitudes & constantly having all kinds of protests against anything that is for actually fixing a problem.

I had not seen nor heard any mentioning of privatization of the USPS by any political group,, but apparently someone must have said something,, because their "letter carriers union" had a bunch of protesters out.

And of course,, the local TV station has to give it a lot of air time & cover this as a big news story.

I fully agree we need to fix a lot of the problems with poor USPS service. But to truly fix it,, they should look back to when it was working at it's best & use THAT model of business operation as a starting point.

Does anyone really believe that a private enterprise is going to do any better in delivering the mail? People are people and the office of the postal service will fall back into their old habits

This may be an immensely unpopular opinion, but I feel the Postal Workers Union needs to be shuttered. As long as people cannot be fired for laziness or incompetence, @KIR is exactly right. Unions no longer fill the role they were created for and now cause more problems than they solve. My ex's dad worked for the post office. He loved telling stories about an employee that would throw back a couple of drinks during lunch. The bosses knew this, but unless he did something that caused someone to get hurt, it was easier to ignore the problem than try to go through the union to get him canned.

I once had 1500 pieces of nickel 9mm brass go missing via USPS. Somewhere between Seattle and Portland a USPS employee carefully cut open the corner of a small flat rate box and emptied it out. I was shocked when I received an empty box with an obviously clean cut corner. I was told it probably got caught in a machine of some sort. I can't imagine 1500 bright shiny little pieces of nickel plated brass going all over the floor and possibly damaging some sort of machinery with apparently nobody noticing.
Well the box was in perfect condition with 2-3 layers of tape around the entire box---just one tiny corner neatly cut open and emptied. It took several months and after several "claim denied" letters I appealed to my local tiny little post office. This gal went to work for me and I waited while she made several phone calls which took about 3 hours. Nope she could not get it solved. Finally she rolled over and paid me cash---probably from the employee candy machine or similar. I don't remember the price for the brass but I also wanted a refund for the shipping---item never arrived so why should they keep money they were paid for to do a job. She paid me off for goods and shipping. About 2 weeks later here comes the check for the lost goods. I figured they owed me for my time and hassle so just kept it.

I have the ultimate late delivery. I bought a bunch of items from an online auction, paid, got a USPS tracking number and then nothing. The package disappeared.
I filed a complaint with the auction house and got a refund.
About 6 months later the auction house goes out of business because of a death in the family operated business.
Then my private PO Box company goes out of business. So my delivery address of ten years is gone, no longer valid.
Then about three years after that. i have a new private PO Box address in another city.
One day I get a package. USPS Priority Mail. The box is dirty. Covered in dirt and dust, the black ink on the address lable has faded to yellow and barely legible.

It's my aution winnings. Almost four years later I get my stuff. Apparently it must have fallen behind a counter or table, and while cleaning they found it, and then they found me, somehow.

Incredible.

I am currently waiting on a package i ordered a month ago from england. It landed in ireland and then l,a., and hasent been seen since. They are now working on chaseing it..."everything else (in that container) is reported as delivered"

Update: seller apparently filed a claim and low and behold status than changed to search in progress. a couple of days later my package was suddenly moving again. From St Louis to Chicago than 3 days ago to the same distribution center less than 15 miles away. After that, nothing but "In Transit to next destination" again until today. now it's back in Chicago again and who know s whare after that.

Texas to Chicago to Local Dist center to St Louis, lost, found, to Chicago, to Local dist Center, back to Chicago.

Evidently the label and bar codes are good enough to get it close to me then it falls off the rails. I wonder where the scanners at the local dist center are telling them to send it?

Finally arrived today, April 11
