Is the frame and cylinder the same size on the 45 and 357 Montados? Just curious if the 357 was a smaller gun.

Should be the same Colt SAA sized frame whether you're talking about the Montado or standard New Vaquero in either chambering.

All the Montados are "New Vaqueros" on the mid-size, SAA-like frame.

The Montado is just a short-barrel NewVaq with a different hammer.

Extremely close, esp. if we're talking about the earliest with the XR3 grip frame (similar to Colt SAA) from roughly 1962 and prior.

They're not compatible in some ways of course...but in terms of size/heft? Real close, except of course back then they were all adjustable-sight rather than Vaquero/Montado type sights...

I bought one last year and soon will send it off to adjust the poi and have the cylinder throaths reamed...It's a sweet little trail gun...
