Model numbers

I have to agree with Mohavesam...a new model to ME, means a different frame size, a different barrel length...or I suppose, a new caliber offering....but added some color...may be attractive to some but doesn't excite...

Now a 9mm model, or a CCO model or 10mm model...that would be interesting. Or a model with a match barrel and adj sights would be intriguing too.

In my opinion, the endless distributor exclusives is just a way to get folks to buy multiples of essentially the same model or to decrease competition and increase profit margins because of the 'limited' nature of these versions...

Ruger has lost something the last few years that I am not sure they will regain...their passion for excellence has been replaced with their passion for profit via high volume...

“I had these done by Baron for my son's Battalion when they were deployed to Afghanistan in 2012. The 2nd Battailion of the 12th Infantry Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division was deployed to the Kunar Province from March-2012 until December-2012.
There were 186 of the SR1911's done; some had a nickname, or call sign, also engraved under the ejection port. These are generally termed "Deployment Weapons"; have no info as to whether any other SR1911's were made up as such. They were shipped to Specialty Sports in Colorado Springs, home of Fort Carson and the 4th ID.
I would think these would be pretty hard to come by. Serial# range was in the 670-44XXX; more or less.”

Inscribed on the left side with " THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS" and the right side with "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED". 5) 1 of 500 All blue "Navy Seal" with the left side having the Navy Seal emblem and the right side the Ruger logo. The sides of the slide are hi-polished and the balance matted. The wood grip panels have about a 60% basket weave carving and the Ruger logo carved in the middle.

I have 5 6700s and 2 6702s. They will go to my grandkids. I also carry a 6700 at times.
As for the others, I am not that big a collector.
I like my 6700, if I run out of ammo, it will make a great blackjack!

Interesting, at least to me, little twist...

I just recently acquired the two Shootists 30th Anniversary prototype SR1911s that were submitted by Ruger for evaluation and approval by our Board. Both are model 6703...which is the Navy Seal gun!

They are consecutive serial numbers. One is all blued, with the Ruger standard SR1911 wood grips, the other is two-tone with the Shootists 30th Anniversary commemorative grips.
