Perfect size if you ask me to. Now if they would just make a fixed sight version in 4140 I would be all set.

Don't have a Blackhawk comparison but I did file away a set of pics comparing a custom Single Six and a FA 97... Take note that this Single Six has a custom oversize cylinder...

How does the FA Model 97 compare size wise with the Blackhawks?
Would it be helpful if I mention that a M97 is slightly smaller than a Colt (clone) SAA, but with a longer, more upright grip frame?

Here is a thumbnail of measurements John Taffin has taken from several 45 Colt revolvers.

Hope this helps.

I wish you guy's would stop showing your Freedom Arms 97's. I'm a rusted steel kind of guy and your going to make me get one.

Please forgive me if this a slight hijacking.

This thread shows stabilized wood grips and black Micarta®. Both are attractive. While my 83s and 97s have wood grips only, I've been considering getting black Micarta® - but I have no idea why since the wood is both attractive and functional. What is the [consensus] preference between the two materials and their colors? Why?

I make a few knives and am exposed to a lot of materials for scales, I use a lot of stabalized hardwoods and many hold up real well, but when subjected to hard use and time Micarta is tough to beat (stick with the paper rather than linen or canvas).

I see you are still in possession of my long barrelled 32 mag.

Just hand it on over...along with the drawers...

Axehandle,

You just brought tears to my eyes. Those things cost about three grand a piece up here.
