They were made in enough quantities to where I'd stick to the $350 mark as a starting place. Offer $325 out the door & see waht happens. The worst they can say is,, "no" and you have to come up a little.

Well now, I have bought two of these over the years. When they were discontinued I bought the first for 184 bucks. In 2007 I found one NIB for sale over in the U.P. for the grand sum of 159bux and bought that one too as a real-honest-to-God-MKII-Ruger-STANDARD-shootin' pistol. It now has 8500 rounds through it and I do deelight in taking the guys money in sidebets using this pistol. IT NEVER MISSES!!! I do, it never does.
For the life of I cannot see anyone paying anything over $250.00 for one of these as they're as common as fleas on a hound dog. They made 'em by the boxcar full !!!

$350-$700 sounds like speculator pricing. These did not sell very well when new and were closed out by distributors for rock bottom prices. Personally, I wouldn't want to pay more than $250 for one either.

I paid $225 & 250 for the 2 I bought a couple of years ago. They are really nothing special.....just fun shooters. Gave one to my nephew when he graduated from High School.

True on 2/3 of your reply, but these did sell well, otherwise Ruger would not have made 55,000 (!!!!) of them in a year's time. It was one of Ruger's most popular single model variations ever produced and was probably exceeded production-wise only by of Ruger's most common 10/22 models. To think that Ruger's distributors would order 55,000 of this speaks for itself...a short tapered barrel pistol with fixed sights...For sure, this model had not been so popular since the 1960's when the various Mark I models and 6" Standard were becoming the most popular.
Yes, distributors did blow them out at the end, but I sure don't see them laying anywhere on g.s. tables today.
According to Ruger's website there were approximately 49,000 .22 pistols sold in all of 1998. In 1999 that total more than doubled to about 106,000 and then dropped back off to about 68,000 in 2000. Obviously Ruger's big total for 1999 was because of the 50th Anniversary model MK-450.
To put a price in perspective, I would go by a price normally found on Ruger's current blue MKIII pistol with 4-3/4" barrel.

Overall how many Mark I and Mark II had been sold by Ruger?
Will the Mark III ever exceed the Mark II sold?
Seem it should unless Ruger stops making Mark III and comes out w/another version.

Pre-Mark II pistols (Standards and Mark I's): 1.2 million (over 32 years)
Mark II pistols: 1.8 million (over 22 years).
Mark III pistols: Only about 325,000 thus far (in five years), but these numbers will obviously continue going up.
