Glad we able to offer a bit of advice & it has seemed to work.
We do have a bunch of genuinely nice folks around here.

If that firing pin has been hammered on for 20-some years, I figure it might be a tad shorter than it started out to be. New firing pins are $3-4. I'll bet if you compare new and old pins side by side, you'd find the old one 1/32 or more shorter. The three month old pin in my MKIII had a problem due to the hammer only striking the lower part of it. It had developed a 'step' and a misfire. A new pin and hammer fixed it...
