yessir , step above ( below?) a clerical "error" , wonder what the person at the testing range figured, cause he certainly didn't LOOK!! gee I winder what the boss is going to say or tell you, boo boo or not, for safety reasons down the road I would want it made right.......FUBAR.......:cautious:(n)
Shouldn't be anything actually wrong with it. Somebody grabbed the receiver from the wrong hopper.

not too hard to learn over time,,,we serviced many lawyers who were into firearms back when we had our shops, quite a few are pretty decent and good "gun guys",,,,better to err on the side of caution, what ain't right, ain't right......."free internet legal advice":rolleyes:;)

"......and so it goes."..Wil Terry, may he rest in Peace(y)

This right here. If the barrel and bolt head are right for 5.56 then nothing is functionally wrong and if the Remlin running around the factory didn't do this alot it's one exceptionally rare gun. They could have had an excess pile of Mini 30 receivers laying around and were short on the normal ones. Absolutely nothing functionally wrong other than the normal storm trooper accuracy.

I don't know that the barrels ARE marked and my Mini 14 is way older than yours.
IF marked, it'd just be on either side or maybe up close to the receiver.

I have two others from the 80s ….. none of the three have any barrel markings. 185-04xxx on this one . I believe it is early to mid 80s

Receivers are the same on both. They prob switched from mini 30 to Mini 14 and that receiver was not pulled from assembly. Or someone tossed a 30 receiver in the 556 box while switching the line over to build a different caliber. The laser etchings are done on the receivers prior to reaching the line for assembly.
