Mini 14 Elevated Weaver Mount

Has anyone used this type of mount on their Mini?
Just curious about how they are working out.

Having trouble with the NC Star scope I have, the threads are stripped, and the scope falls out of the mount.
The Mini is a 186-XXX serial number

That's for the older style Minis. That one goes where the buffer spring assembly cover is.

Either kind, shooting is about the same.

It depends more on the 'luck of the rifle'.
and how 'good or bad' the barrel is.

Threads are stripped on the 4 screws on the scope. They are a fine thread and real short
The mount itself is tight on the rifle

Can you re tap them to the next size up? I worked on and around industrial machinery for years in a production environment and found out that just about ANYTHING can be fixed if you put your mind to it. I just made/machined an AR15 buffer retainer for a guy the day before a shoot. Took a piece of round stock, a drill and a file. I think the one I made on my front porch was better than the original. They make threaded inserts that will repair your threads.

Think I may try to re-tap. Otherwise looks like a new scope, not that this one is all that good, but worth a try like you said

Was able to find some longer screws, as the scope was threaded fairly deep.

Put a little blue "Loc-Tite" on them. Going to range tommorrow, if it fails again it's yours Gav-N-Tn
