If it was my business being broken into, I would have gone and protected my property and done what was necessary to do so!

In case nobody has figured it out yet, we're purdy much on our own these days.

Following on the heels of this story , Milwaukee's Police Chief resigned today. Unknown if this incident had any relation to his resignation. In news conferences he always came across as very arrogant.

107th & Brown Deer Rd should be Brown Deer PD not Milwaukee PD

Till 1990 I lived at 63rd & Brown Deer Rd and there and west was not Milwaukee

Xsales: I tried punching the address into my maps program and it shows Milwaukee at that intersection. I read in one of the comments on this story that Brown Deer went west to 60th and Brown Deer Road. Unsure the difference as I'm in western Waukesha County.

I have no real idea what was behind the 60 min response. But, since I now have 36 years invested in Oregon policing, I want to point out. The last POTUS changed policing in a big way, a very bad way. I think anyone reading this knows the reasons why. Many people who would make great police officers will not apply. Standards have been dropping for years. Departments cannot get replacements for those who retire. Major depts have all time low numbers working for them now. They are spending big money in overtime for those working and that will burnout most folks. One dept is here is hiring back retires at full pay again if they sign a 2 year contract and they pick where they will work. Now think about this, if a person gets hired it takes 1.5 to 2 years. Before they are out on the street by themselves. In the last 10 years or so, I see many of those who do not make it to the 2 year mark. Some get fired, some cannot take it. I do not have hard numbers but, in seems like the past was 1 of 10 new cops did not make it now it is 3 or 4 out of 10.

Same problem with the military, although for different reasons. Doesn't bode well for the country. We may end up with RoboCop and RoboSoldier sooner than we think. :(

Thanks for the insight. Unfortunately, the other impact of what you have described is greater incompetence, greater arrogance, and fewer peace officers working and more armed militia mentality on the streets. I see it locally.

...and what about big city Police Chiefs who're super liberal?

To be fair, the world as we know it is going to hell - the mantra of geezers (me, being one....) and yet it goes on even with things like WW2 and to a certain degree worse wars in their own way....

We'll stumble along, monsters will be de-frocked, political and religious and plain ole criminal, horror will continue, but regular, kind, good folks will also help leaven out the evil. They'll join the police force, military and other good works folk will continue the fight against evil.

Don't despair. Without good people, evil people couldn't exist.

Why is that?

Good people in monster perspective are to be predated upon because they create and they the monsters can't create, so they depend upon good people to be victims. When victims choose not to be, monsters die...

There's always a balance, tipping this way or that, but always tipping...slightly this way or that...

Me, irreligious as I am, think only logical, good, (by that I mean non-criminal, or perverted) people will prevail...

He also did a bang up job of boasting about the great job he did. LOL. Milwaukee lost the only leader in that town that knew what he was doing. Sherriff David Clarke. The rest of the leadership is primarily liberal crap!

Milwaukee, like other SE Wisconsin Cities has become a dangerous City...(not all of it obviously).
I need to go there in about two hours.
And you can bet I will have a "Friend" sitting in my consul, as well as being very alert..
Sad situation...

When you go to Milwaukee - or other cities with a "friend" in the console and get carjacked, the carjacker now has a new "friend".
Keeping the gun ON your person is the MOST effective way to be able to use your gun if needed. In the console- why not just leave it at home and hope nothing bad happens.

I recently saw a list of the top 100 most crime ridden cities. If memory serves Milwaukee was in the top 10 worst.

I have to go thereto get my wife at the airport tomorrow night. NEVER leave home without it, it's always by my side.

That is Milwaukee. I live in this lovely city. 68 th street is the west boundary of brown deer. From about 68th to 107th and north to county line road is the north ghetto.

I have a 45 mounted just under the steering wheel. Easier access than having it holstered. Wisconsin allows loaded pistols in vehicles uncased. Rifles can be uncased but they have to be unloaded.

So for "special occasions" I have a AR15 pistol.

Milwaukee police suck. Basically call them if you need a body picked up. The chief was an ass. Never wanted to take a hard stance against crime always was afraid he was going to offend somebody. Never would admit he was wrong. Always the victim and blaming others for his problems. Gee like 90 percent of the population of this city. Don't know how many things he tried to blame on gun owners and concealed carry.

Our mayor is even worse. Won't get tough on crime but we have a real cool trolley downtown. Icing on the cake is our local judicial system is a joke. Damn near any crime that actually makes the news involves someone with a record as thick as phone book. Or awaiting trial for a crime they committed last week.

Biggest problems we have are stolen cars illegal guns and thefts. Up until about a month ago cops were not allowed to chase stolen vehicles. Sorry not stolen they are just being driven without the owners consent, yep that is the charge. Guns well your a felon caught with a gun that is five years. But we can toss that charge for your plea to something that only locks you up for eighteen months. Be out in seven or eight months. Thefts well a tribe of six or seven people can walk into walgreens fill shopping carts and walk out the front door. Cops might show up within two or three hours to take a report.

It is just an absolute joke.

I should have clarified that by in my console I meant on top of it, where the cup holders are.. it fits right in there and I can grab instantly. A lot faster than in a holster...
And obviously, by me posting this, I made it OK..
Did stop to relieve myself at a McDonalds, but had it in my jacket pocket with my hand on it all the time...(Well Most of the time anyway) LOL
I also agree that carrying one inside the console is the same as in the trunk if you need it quickly.
