I'd always heard the gun on the cover of that Gun Digest never existed. Jim Triggs made his own engraved gun in the painting.

Years ago I was going to get one engraved just like it. Took it to Ray Vironmentz but he gave it back to me saying that he could not engrave the "potmetal" at the rear of the receiver and the trigger guard like the picture shows since it is not good steel. So we just abandoned the project. I too believe that gun was a Triggs drawing....but it sure is pretty.
