I've never much liked McDonald's but I have eaten there at times when I'm running long with errands, starving and starting to "cave" (shaking hands, grouchy and not too picky). But the last few times I've resorted to that for a quick calorie grab, the service has been marginal, the food has poor quality, and the prices were astronomical for such tiny, flavorless portions.

First 3 times that happened, I just chalked it up to a random bad day there. But now it's happened 4-5 times in 4-5 different stores, so that's enough.

McDonald's is just a roadside bathroom to me now.

We weren't wealthy. My dad was a butcher workman at a large meat processing plant (from kill to finished product). He was very conservative. When we as a family went out to eat, we went to McDonald's. This would have been in the early to mid 60's. A family of five could eat burgers, fries and soft drinks for less than $5. No cheeseburgers, they cost too much. :)

About the only time I go to Mickey D's is if I'm on the road like going to New Mexico for a hunt or to see my stepdaughter. Otherwise, I might on rare, very rare occasion hit an Arby's. About a month ago I had lunch with a lady friend at IHOP. She had a huge burger, dunno that they called it and as it was fairly late in the day I just had coffee. The lady is a nurse and had just got off work. $27.00 counting the tip. Dunno what they called that burger but I'll admit it was dinner for twp. It was big. She had to take half home for tomorrow.
Usually, when I'm on the road I get a couple of double cheese burgers from Mickey. Fries some times. Usually get a bottled coke when I stop for gas.

My wife and I took my two grandsons to McD’s in St. Pete for a quick lunch Sunday and it cost $32 … I remarked that it would have cost ~$15 when their mother was their age, and ~$6.00 when we were their age …
I live in n..Mississippi. Any of their standard item meals with 7% tax are over 10$. 2019 before covid the same thing was 6.50$ all in.
Every company the usa that made any concessions to help the public during covid wants it all back with interest. Now that they've seen the American people pay it cost will never go down. Just more gouging and more taxes to keep the government running.
It sucks.

There is simply much better food for the same or nearly the same price... Before I retired, I was a freelance photographer and often traveled about to shoot photos---sometimes the ONLY place around or open was a Mcds---that was the ONLY time I would eat there and that was seldom...

I don't think I've intentionally eaten their garbage in the last 20 years and have no plans to. There's plenty of other options ... doing without would be one of my personal choices, if necessary.

The last time I was in a McDonalds was Jan 1991. I had gotten mobilized for Desert Storm and we had left Barksdale AFB, (Shreveport, La) on the way to SanAntonio. I hitched a ride in a private vehicle with a bunch of other guys. We were going through the town where I lived, stopped there and got my wife to run over at the McDonalds about two blocks from the hospital where we both worked, for a quick cup of coffee.

My picks for fast food Culvers, BK, Wendy's McDonalds, Steak & Shake, Whataburger (Wonder woman's sponsor). Whatabuger is last because there aren't any in my area.
My only if I absolutely have to list, Sonic, Five guys, There maybe others to add to either list, but It'd take some time.
Any way, prices are nuts every where I go. BK prices were going up every month. I ate there maybe twice a month. Now over $10 for a Whopper meal. Golden Coral prices have gone up at least 30% & the burger joints are charging what I used to pay AT Golden Coral. I've cut back on eating out.
Range, ammo, prices have gone up also. So it's eat or shoot.
I have lost a bit of weight & I'm shooting better. 😉

So, who's going to be the first morally superior Forum member who will say something like: I havn't be to a McDonald's since '42 and I've never felt better! Just like TV threads...3-2-1... LOL

I've heard that McDonald's prices are ridiculous now. The only thing I've bought at McD's in the last few years was a large coffee and I didn't look at the menu. So, last night I decided to look up what certain things cost at my local McD's now.

www.menuswithprice.com/mcdonalds-menu/?category=Burgers

Big Mac: $5.79

Egg McMuffin: $5.79

Large soft drink: $3.59

Big Mac combo with medium drink and medium fries: $11.89

Simple tiny cheesburger: $3.49

Simple tiny hamburger we knew as 15¢ back in the day: $3.39

I don't look at McD's parking lot and drive thru lines, but I'll bet people are lined up to pay these prices! 2 adults and 2 kids would push $40+😲

I don't blame them for charging this much if people are willing to pay it. I think I'll get my large coffee somewhere else just on principal. They won't miss me :)
I stopped by the localMcDs to get some calories in me before a bow shoot last weekend. I got the sandwich but passed on the $1.99 3 ounces hash browns.
