Chances are you own a smartphone or computer that contains a chip hackers could potentially exploit to get access to sensitive information.

That's because billions of devices are affected by two major security flaws revealed by cybersecurity researchers on Wednesday.

The flaws -- dubbed Meltdown and Spectre -- affect processing chips made by Intel (INTC), AMD (AMD) and ARM Holdings. That means if you use a desktop, laptop, smartphone or cloud service from Apple (AAPL), Google (GOOGL), Amazon (AMZN) or Microsoft (MSFT) you might be vulnerable.

Don't panic. Here's what you should do.

Oh, they're not new. Been there for years. Just newly revealed.

Okay, anyone who ever thought there was any real security in computers, raise your hand. Now, come forward and get your dunce cap...

Interesting, this could lead to using the internet for any sort of financial transactions a serious problem. Already there are many things I cannot do on the internet because my social number is required.

Agreed. These problems have always been there, and always will be to an extent.. You cannot fix every issue with security.. The minute you fix one, there will be another hacker to exploit something else.. There will never be 100% security in anything.. You just can't plan for every contingency.. There will always be holes in any system. Regardless..

AI will fix it - one way or another.

OH yeah, now they are in a dither. Upgrade, upgrade! By the way the upgrade will slow down your device. Sounds like the manufacturers have a hand in this debacle.
