Change the buffers and springs, 16.5# in the 9mm and 21# in the .45. I recently sold two new unused stocks for $400ea. on eBay!

Many do, but the only benefit is sight radius. After a certain length you gain no measurable velocity. If you are going to lug around a 5 pound gun at least get a caliber that has some real knock down power. Imagine a 10mm loaded to it's original design coming out of a 16 inch barrel. Take down a polar bear, he'd just laugh at your .45 a.c.p. and a 9mm would insult him.
And the real beauty because of it's weight is low recoil.

I'm pretty sure nobody in their right mind would choose a 9mm Carbine for Polar Bear. For home defense they are far better than almost any handgun. Quieter with little to no muzzle flash in an easily managed package.

I've owned more than one Camp 9, and have had a nickel 9N version for some years now. I can't really say its better than someone else's choice. To me it's just a fun, reliable, light duty plinker. In addition to just plinking with it out to about a hundred yards or so, I've used it to chronograph and compare pistol and carbine velocities with a bunch of different 9mm ammo types. It has been reliable with all ammo tested, with either the 16.5# or 21# recoil spring installed. Haven't run across any Polar Bears here in Arizona;-)

I had a utMarlin Camp 45 but sold it here on this forum years ago. I miss it too. I have an original Ruger PC9 and enjoy it as much as any gun I own b I would buy another Marlin 45 if given the opportunity and especially so if it took G21 mags.

I have a nice Marlin Camp Carbine in 45ACP. I currently is in a "tactical" configuration but I have the original stock and an extra brand new receiver housing. I've stopped shooting it when I got my CMMG 45ACP Guard. Not sure if I want to keep the Marlin or not...nice thing about it is if I put the wood stock back on it it is not "scary" to the anti gun folks like the AR platform Guard. It loves 200 grain ammo and will put them all in one big hole at 50 yards from the bench.
I'm looking to get a Springfield Armory SA-35 so I may decide to sell it.
