I thought this was pretty cool and thought some people would like to know about it.

Marine Vet makes and produces a comic book about his experience in combat.

Tells the story of his brothers.

"No enemy but peace"

Interesting you bring this up. Miss Penny & I were thrift shopping some this past Saturday, and I found a Marvel comic, 1987, dated 7 June. The name on the cover; "The Nam." It's about Vietnam. For $2 I bought it.

When my brother was in Vietnam he sent back a book of one pager cartoons called "Sgt Mike" (I think) I assume drawn by a GI. Even for a ten year old kid it was pretty dang funny.

Found a snippet. It was actually "With Sgt. Mike" Looks like we had the original version, not the second or third printing based on what I read here, and the fact that it was square and the cover was not pink.

Humor can be found even in wartime. WW II brought us "Up Front" - if you haven't read it, it's a must.... especially for vets.

In Vietnam, we also had "Nguyen Charlie", who showed up in the Stars and Stripes. Found a sample:

Steve Butler was a cartoonist for the Stars & Strips approx. 1970. We met in college after we both got out and were part of a Vet's club. We graduated and went separate ways, but I ran a copy of his cartoons and still have them. I'm not sure I should post them (copyright and all that) since they are not mine. Makes me think I should try looking Steve up to see if he is still on the right side of the grass.

Swift boat duty was tough. The Lieutenant in charge of a "C" school I went to had 2 Swift boats sunk under him. The 2nd boat he was the sole survivor.
