I recently bought a p85. The mag release requires a lot of pressure to release the the magazine. The button itself is kind of sharp. Is there a way to lighten it up or get an after market release that is a little easier to operate?

I have one I purchased new in 1991, the KP85 or the P85 the mag release if it were easy to release you would or may have the mag coming out when you do not want it to it requires some pressure to keep it in place.

Do you really need it to be that lose, do you need to change mags that fast that often?

Perhaps the mag is wrong and in order to lock in has to be pushed further into the well in order to latch. Which may bind up the release when trying to remove. Depending on the SN# of your P85 it takes one of 2 mags. A P15 or a P18. Let us know the SN# range of your gun and describe the mags to us also. Or pics.

The serial number is in the 303-63xxx range. It is a P85 MkII. My ruger mag has no markings other than the ruger emblem and 9mm.
