Hello all! My first post, and I need your opinions. I have a m77 Mark II, with that designation on the reciever. It has a thin 20" barrel, and the black cap on the forend. My question is " Shouldn't this gun have some marking on it, such as MkII(L) or something designating it as an Ultralight?

Thanks in advance for your help.

My '85 tang safety 77RL doesn't say so on the barrel. It just says M77. I believe only the ultra lites used the black forend cap like mine has. It seems yours is simply a newer model.

By the time I wake in the AM I'm sure a few members that know a heck of a lot more than I do about these things will chime in.

First, welcome to the Forum.

Ruger doesn't mark the model on the receivers, they're made in a batch and are usable on many models. The Ultralight designation only impacts the barrel and stock.

The only place you'll see the 'RL' model designator is on the box end.

Thanks for the info. I got this gun about a year ago, and just got around to tinkering with it. I loaned a boy $300 and recieved this for collateral. :D

Thanks again,
Clint

Cool. I have two RLs. A .308 and a .250 Savage. I carry the .250 a lot.
