Lots of Elk

I guess it's all about your perspective. If you're from Hawaii, 45 degrees seems incredibly cold. If you're from Barrow, 65 degrees seems impossibly hot. If you're from Hayes Kansas, New York City is crazy huge. If you're from Shanghai China, NYC is nothing but a bedroom community.

I've seen bigger deer and elk herds crossing the road than in the link. But there's no doubt that you've seen things that I can't even imagine.

WOW, I love seeing elk but then I don't have to feed them or fix the fences they knock down.
I used to do both every year. Started putting the top strand of wire inside PVC tubing. Elk can pass over it without taking the wire down, some of the time. It also does not tear them up. As for feeding. They were often in my alfalfa. I would chase them out. I was able to get them to stay in one recessed field near the mesa they bedded down on and just left it for them to graze. They learn fast. Smart animals.

And hunters whine there are no elk! They must be hunting in the wrong area, ya think?
Sometimes I will see a herd of 60 Elk crossing my driveway. But you have to realize that there are millions upon millions of remote acres here and the Deer and Elk herds are not that thick. In fact, there were 5 to 10 times as many Elk in Montana before the USFWS introduced the foreign wolves.
Success rates of licensed Elk hunters is not that impressive. During hunting season they will move to the most inaccessible areas where you could not retrieve the carcass even if you were young and fit enough to follow them there.
Also, most units only allow you to shoot a brow tined Bull and only one in 80 Elk usually will qualify.
