Secure the next wood-bead macrame thingie you come across cheaply. Free the beads (they wont be sprouting roots if they get wet) from the knots, toss the jute and select a leg of denim. A leather patch from an old purse or boot near the b/c gap makes the nice cheap repurpoised denim last longer.
Cheaper'n lighter'n leather'n ballbearings, and yer kids kin tote'em fer ya.

Washed spent primers would be my choice, only because I have a couple of coffee cans full of them.

Also, they won't get moldy or grow funky biological experiments if they get wet or stored in high humidity like organic fillers can (rice, beans, walnut shells etc).

They can corrode themselves together, but by then yer bag is toast, too.

If you have access to it, just can't beat sand in a sandbag. If not, then folks have given lots of great alternatives as there is no wrong answer. good luck.
