Just wanted to let you guys know that the ballots for NRA board run are out this week, and I am on it. Here is an article in Truth about Guns that outlines some of who I am.

I'd appreciate your vote, if you are the voting type.
I don't vote in to many but I think you surely deserve my vote in this . Over the years we seem to agree an disagree on most of the same things in life .so I am going to do my part in helping you get a seat .

The people making the most from me over the NRA management mess are the GOA and SAF; every time I get a mailer from the NRA asking for money it's reminds me to donate to those organizations. :)

I am a life member of SAF, and really like the new additions there to support Alan and make sure that SAF continues on. GOA is a for profit organization - that said - they do good work, and I really like Erich Pratt ( as a matter of fact - Both Alan Gottlieb and Erich Pratt endorsed me in my run for NRA Board).

Well I guess we maybe able to call the NRA a for Profit Organization too; depending on how you look at it now.

I am a Life Member of the GOA.

We will see what happens, but I think the State of New York is going to have way more impact on the NRA management than the NRA board.

Sorry I just found this thread. I sent my ballot in blank because I didn't know any names. In the past couple of elections I've only voted for those who were not recommended by the Nominating Committee. I figured that it was mainly made up of WLP lacky's.

Wish I had known. Wasted opportunity.

I just took a closer look at my ballot. For what its worth, Amanda is number 24 on the list recommended by the Nominating Committee. All of the names on the ballot are persons who have been recommended by the Nominating Committee. There are no non recommended candidates. I also note that on the ballot, it says vote for no more than 26 names but on the page listing the Nominating Committee recommendations, it says vote for no more than 25. Which is it? I think that I will pass on voting this year.

Typically there are 25 ( thus their boiler plate election info) and this year there are 26 as one current serving member died.

As to running by petition - its a lot of work. A lot.
I am not opposed to working hard - but the window for petitions are the day after the annual meeting until about mid september / October 1

Many of the big shows happen in the winter. So to get 1000 signatures from current 5 year or life members takes a LOT of gun shows, etc. I have been submitting my info to the nominating committee for the last 5 years. That committee is made up of current members and a few others ( that I don't know where they originated from) Its luck of the draw if the nominating committee is for change or for the same old, same old. Lucky for me this year - someone who is pretty political in their home state liked the political portion of my resume. Another member knew me from eastern PA activisim, etc.

Its pretty rare to see folks getting on by petition. You may see one or two a year, and many years you will see none.

I've learned a lot from this thread. Thanks, Amanda and the others that know some of this stuff. I don't usually vote, because it's pretty hard to guess who these people are from the brief descriptions. I did vote for Amanda and a few others - none of the current members. Way less than the 26 possible votes. It is interesting to see more business people and more women than usual as candidates.

Good luck, Amanda, I sincerely hope you are elected.
