Lonely SR 1911

Help Support Ruger Forum:

I've shot mine so much that it's actually a little loose but is like the Energizer bunny.

I don't shoot mine a lot but it does get shot from time to time. .45 acp. is more expensive than 9mm or .40 S&W & I don't carry my SR 1911 because I don't want to try to conceal something that large. It doesn't get shot as much as the gun I usually carry or others that I am more likely to carry. I do like it a lot though.

I'm contemplating another "45" day at the range. My SR1911 gets a lot of exercise, it is my nightstand and first choice for a carry gun. I also have a .45LC/ACP Convertible OM BH, a Glock 41, LC Carbine, and just because, two different rifles in .450 Bushmaster.

I don't shoot any of my guns often enough.

I took one of my SR1911's out to the range last week and gave it to my son. I have a Remington that gets shot even less than the Rugers.

Usually if I take a 1911 to the range it is a S&W 1911PD Comander. An old picture of them together

I have a small cache of 1911's. 1 Ruger target model in 9mm, a Colt 1911 and an AMT Hardballer Longslide. I love to shoot them, but I hate policing my brass because I reload. I shoot the Ruger 9mm the most since I have so much 9mm brass, I don't mind loosing them at the range if I don't feel like picking them up.

Most of my "Gear" comes from Sportsman's Guide 🤣😂🤣😂. Snake Boots, Cargo Pants, Random Trailer Week that I actually rode to shirt, Even my riding Jacket isn't some name brand. I met the makers at a show and they gave me a good deal to be their 6xl guinea pig.

Well, call me crazy I guess....but I don't own a gun that I don't have a use for. Somebody said that there's has been shot 100 times?....I shot more than that through each of my 1911A-1's, just making sure they would work with each mag that I have stock piled....And yes, I do realize they cost more to shoot than my High-Powers, but that's why I buy ammo in case lots....Then again, I always have been a serious sort of guy. I mean really, why else would I own and-or carry a .45 unless I was serious?...decoration?...No, not likely...LOL.

Well, I just really love the 1911 platform, but I just hardly every fire a centerfire pistol, mostly my .22 target pistols. However, I have learned the hard way that I just cant live without owning a 1911 pistol. So, I currently have a Kimber Stainless Target II in 9mm that has been fired only a box or so of ammo, but i still don't want to let it go.
