Living on the edge of the Everglades, we see quite a bit of interesting bird life.
This is a Red shouldered hawk in the back yard. For scale, he's sitting on a 4x4 post.

Nice photo. My wife is fascinated by the resident hawks where we live and has gotten pretty good at spotting them. We have a few red tails and quite a population of Coopers hawks that sometimes take a bird or squirrel near our feeder or nearby trees. Sadly, every time we have gotten close enough for a decent picture we've never had a camera :)

We were just in Fort Meyers for the holidays and I was surprised at the number of hawks we saw. There are two dead pine trees in my cousin's backyard where we would see a few each day.

Imagine my surprise when we observed a huge owl one morning. Between that and all the gators on Alligator Alley we felt like we had a good picture of the animal life.

Nice.
I watched two bald eagles circling over a nearby lake this afternoon for about half an hour.
