Heading to a local coin and gun auction tomorrow (10/22). Has two Rugers that caught my eye - Stainless Mk II Target (5 1/2" Bull barrel) s/n 212-796XX and a 1976 Stainless Security Six s/n 151-822XX (they didn't give the barrel length, but it should have the "Made in the 200th year..." markings)

They also advertised a M77 .308 Win w/walnut checkered stock and a M77 .308 Win with a walnut checkered Mannlicher stock. That is the only info - anything I should look for to try to determine value??

Oh, they did also say they had a 10/22 but didn't give any info. The nice part is the Rugers handguns typically go for sane prices, the buyers are their for the rifles, but you never know.

Report Saturday evening or Sunday.

Well, other than the KMK512 that I got for $400 (decent price I think) the others went for just stupid prices (IMO). The 10/22 (receiver and bolt was beat to h***) and it was odd that it had a plastic butt plate but a metal barrel band, went for $375. The 6" Stainless Security Six (although it has a 1976 mfg date it was not marked "made in the 200th year..." ) had 3 bidders at the start, I was one but dropped out when it hit $500. It sold for $875 (I guess the guy just had to have it). I just glanced at the M77's didn't take any notes. The standard walnut stock .308 had an extremely (to me) skinny barrel and a Leupold Var-X 3x9 and it solded for $1375. The Mannlicher stocked M77 also a .308, no scope went for $1875.

Here's a few other things that were there 50+ Uncirculated rolls of American Eagle Silver dollars - went for $270 per roll, 8 each 100 oz, 999+ Engelhard bars went for $2700 each, 300+ Canadian Uncirculated Silver Maple Leaf $1 coins went for $27 each. I saw one guy, my guesstimate, at least 80 yrs old, early in the coins auction, drop $20,000 on ONE lot of coins (it was sealed box of 25 rolls (20 coins per roll) Uncirculated American Eagle silver dollars). There were also a lot of sets of gold coins also (the 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/10 oz sets). My estimate of the selling price of all the coins (which took over 3 1/2 hrs total just to sell all the coins) was in excess of $750,000

Things are pretty crazy on any silver and gold, and following several auctions I find the guns in general went for much more than I felt were reasonable, especially with auction commissions. Thanks for the report.
