I have been loading a few of the RCBS 270 gr SWC bullets for my 45 and was wondering what velocity and pressure will be generatad with a 43/4 in barrel with 25 gr of RE7 and with 16.5 gr of 2400 ??
I would appreceiate any info.
The bullet weighs in at 280 grains.

I wish I had some software that could help you out. I don't have any data for RE7 but your 2400 loads are a little over the 14,000 cup max for standard .45colt loads according to Brian Pierce's work with that bullet in Handloader magazine.

Thanks for the input. I know that 16.5 grains of 2400 with a 255 SWC will run slightly over 1400 .But I am using the RCBS 270 and that weighs 280 grians .It should raise the pressure some .I hope someone has the pressure number .

I can't give you the pressure number, but check out april 2007 issue of handloader magazine. It is available online. 270SAA (280gr) max load in the 14,000 cup table was 16grs. 17-18grs of 2400 was used in the 20,000psi table. 19-20grs was used in the 32,000cup table. I have shot that bullet a lot and plan on shooting it even more once I start casting myself instead of buying them. Lately, the majority of my loads with that bullet have been with HS6. I have never tried 2400.
