I've been experiencing light primer strikes and some FTFs on the lower barrel in my RRL 28 gauge. I took the buttstock off and gave the receiver a good cleaning and relubed with Breakfree CLP. I haven't had any failures to fire since, but I notice that the firing pin indention is not as deep on the lower barrel as on the top. Is this a matter of concern, or just the way the gun works. Have not had the same experience with the 12 -gauge RRL I bought in 1988.

The shop I work at does a lot of work on doubles. As long as the strike is hard enough to set off the round I wouldn't worry about it. As to the cause I would look at possibly some dirt grime etc. stuck in the firing opin hole. I would have to look at the scematics of a red label but some doubles have a return spring on the firing pin. It is possible that the sprin g has gotten something into it so it does not compress all the way. Steve
