As a kid,, I heard an older gent say; "Nobody gets out of life alive. Live life and enjoy every day."

Well, it's been proven time & time again.

We as mere mortals may wonder why good people leave us all too soon, and bad people seem to last forever. But instead of questioning things,, I look at it a little differently.

Sometimes the Good Lord need a good person in Heaven,, and the Devil is overrun with the bad ones.

Condolences to the family!

My condolences. I worked in the nursing home field for over 20 years before I retired, and some lessons were very clear. I can't tell you how many of the elderly that we took care of said that they had always planned on using their hard saved funds for some good times, like lengthy vacations or that fancy car that they always had wanted. But it never seemed the right time to them, and suddenly they had a stroke, or severe heart attack, or cancer or Alzheimer's and now they their funds were paying for a nice room in a nursing home instead of something fun. And no matter how old the person was, looking back they almost always felt that life was too short. I knew an old gentleman who was 102, and as I sat with him during his last hours, he looked up at me and said "It all went by so fast" shortly before he passed.

I envy those of you that truly believe that there is some sort of existence after death. I can't help but feel that essentially we are just another species of animal and that our lives and deaths have no more significance in the long run than does that squirrel climbing in the tree outside of my kitchen. I fear that when we die we just go dark and wink out of existence so getting the most out of life while we have it is about the best one can do.

I was in a band a few years ago. The drummer and his wife were very active She was more of a runner than him. She worked out and ran every marathon available to her. One night as she sat in her easy chair to watch a movie she experienced a severe stroke that left her unable to walk with out a walker.

Our family friend who went to the gym every week day before the sun came up got up in the middle of the night to pee. His wife found him dead early the next morning. This guy ate right worked hard and stayed fit. but...

There are so many stories like this, including my brother. You just never know...
