Least desirable: the gun you can't find a use for. My example of which:
At one time I installed a high dollar, low power scope on a #1H in .416 Rigby for a client.
Bore sighted. Took 2 shots @ 50 yds for correction, one more at 100 for further fine-tuning, two more to make the point.
Shoving it back in his hands, (he appeared a bit panicked/reluctant) along with the 15 remaining Federal cartridges, I went to the chiropractor, and she removed the PAST pad from my body.
"Anything that brutal" is on my list of undesirable.
I've always felt the #1 deserved the unusual cartridges more than just "production".
The 6mm Rem and .243 Win, or .257 Robt. and .250 Savage in a #1A are sweet combinations. Despite the high popularity of the .243 Win., as it's just that pleasant of a gun. The .220 Swift, and the .280 Remington in a #1B just seemed "right".
What I'd like to see?
Likely a #1S: .348 Win (mentioned above) the old .38-55 Ballard.
In #1s or 1B: 7x64mm.
300 Savage, 7mm-08, and... a .357Max in a #1A.
